Slayer - Christ Illusion (2006)

Slayer's Christ Illusion presents a very focused and intensive effort from the group, something that old fans of Slayer had been waiting for many years to hear. After Paul Bostaph's departure from the band at the tail end of the God Hates Us All tour, Lombardo returns to the line-up; recording his first studio album with Slayer since 1990's Seasons in the Abyss.

The album opens with Flesh Storm, which slowly builds until Araya's vocals kick in and screams "Take a deep breath 'cause it all starts now!", and at that point I knew I was in for a treat.

Lamb of God - Wrath (2009)

Wrath, Lamb of God’s latest release, is a change of pace from their previous album, Sacrament. This time around, Lamb of God has created a record that sounds much rawer and organic than that of their previous album, Sacrament, and to a certain degree, Ashes of the Wake. With cleaner guitar tones and vocals that have been brought to the forefront, this album is a mean son of a bitch out to kill with a vengeance.

Megadeth - United Abominations (2007)

After their experiment with a mainstream rock sound that was presented on the Risk album, and the album that Mustaine considers a turnaround album in The World Needs a Hero, Megadeth follows up 2004’s The System Has Failed with an album that harkens back to their earlier days. The hard edged riffs, speed and killer hooks that made Megadeth a force to be reckoned with in the 80’s and early 90’s is back, alive and well.
